We won Gold!!!

Charlotte's Best Bridal Shop 2026 - J. Major's Bridal Boutique

J. Major's has been voted the Best Bridal Shop in Charlotte in the 2026 Voted Charlotte's Best awards, run by The Charlotte Observer. First place. Number one. Chosen by the Charlotte readers and customers who know us best.

This is Part 8 of Rooted Here, the final chapter in our series on the real history behind J. Major's. If you are just joining us, you can start with the building, then read about the business itself, the designers, Charlotte's bridal industry, our custom design work, what to expect when you visit, and our team. Every one of those chapters led to this one.

Voted Charlotte's Best Bridal Shop by You!

A Google Maps search for bridal shops in Charlotte, NC turns up 24 of them as of October 2026. Of all of them, Charlotte readers and customers voted J. Major's number one.

I want to say that again slowly, because it still takes my breath away. After forty-two years in this city, after four owners, a move from Dilworth to South End, and a lot of changing seasons in bridal fashion, the people of Charlotte looked at every option and chose us.

You can see the results for yourself on the 2026 Bridal Shop winners page, and you will find us on page 119 of the 2026 Charlotte's Best magazine.

To every bride who trusted us with her dress, every mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and best friend who sat on our couch and cried happy tears, and every person who took a moment to vote for us: thank you. This award belongs to you.

Why an award like this matters

Plenty of shops describe themselves as the best bridal shop in Charlotte. Self-description costs nothing, and when you are planning the most important dress of your life, a claim on a website is hard to weigh. A first-place finish in a citywide vote, run by The Charlotte Observer, is a different kind of evidence. The people who decided are the brides and families who actually walked through the doors, tried on the gowns, and lived the experience.

So if you are searching for the best bridal shop in Charlotte, this is the kind of independent recognition worth looking for. We are honored to hold it.

What Gold says about how we treat people

I think the best way to understand this award is to look at the way we work, because that is what Charlotte voted for. It comes from a legacy at J. Major's of treating every bride and every family member with dignity, as a person and never as a sale.

Dignity for every bride and every guest. A mother, a grandmother, a best friend, a partner, a flower girl: everyone who comes to an appointment is a guest of honor. Every person who walks in is treated with the same warmth, whatever their budget, their size, or their taste.

Transparency from the first minute. Our gowns hang on open racks where you can touch them and read the price. The price is the same for every bride, and the only extra charge is $75 shipping. We shared all of that in what to expect at J. Major's.

Respect for what brides go through. Planning a wedding comes with excitement, long to-do lists, family opinions, budgets, and big feelings, often all in the same week. Our job is to make your appointment a calm, kind place in the middle of all that. We listen to your vision, and we help you find it.

No pressure, ever. We never pressure a bride to commit. If you want to sleep on it, we thank you and let you go.

The same respect for our team. We treat our employees the way we treat our brides, with kindness, trust, and appreciation. You can meet them in Part 7. A team that feels respected shows that respect to every bride who walks through the door, and I believe that is a big part of why you can feel the difference.

How we give back to Charlotte

A business that calls a city home owes that city more than a storefront. Here is some of what we have been part of.

Building with Habitat for Humanity

On September 11, Ravi spent a volunteer session at a Habitat for Humanity ReStore for Women Build, rolling up his sleeves alongside other volunteers. He has also taken part in CEO Build in both 2025 and 2026, a hands-on volunteer day where Charlotte business owners and leaders pick up the tools themselves. It is the kind of work that leaves you tired, covered in paint, and very glad you went.

Giving back through our Jenny Yoo sample sale

In February 2026, our team donated 50% of the proceeds from our Jenny Yoo sample sale to the Women Build initiative, a cause Ravi also volunteered for in September. Jenny Yoo has been on our floor since 2011, so it felt right to let a gown we love do a little extra good.

My Breast Friend's Wedding and the Go Jen Go Foundation

Every October, My Breast Friend's Wedding turns a wedding into a fundraiser for The Go Jen Go Foundation, which provides direct financial support to individuals and families in the Charlotte area facing a breast cancer diagnosis. This year's event, the fourth annual, took place on October 22 at the Hyatt Centric SouthPark.

The evening went wonderfully, and we were proud to be part of it as a Diamond Ring Partner, with proceeds helping cover expenses for local families going through breast cancer. Kelcie, Angelina, Georgia, Anna, Rylee, and I were all there to celebrate with everyone.

We were especially honored to have one of our own brides, Maddie, join us along with her mom as special guests from J. Major's. Maddie is a breast cancer survivor, and having them there gave the night extra meaning for our whole team. She is a reminder that a wedding dress can mean far more than a dress.

Cheering on Charlotte Youth Ballet

We are proud to be a Principal-level corporate sponsor of Charlotte Youth Ballet, a non-profit classical youth ballet company that has served Charlotte since 1981 and gives student dancers the chance to perform in professional caliber productions. You will find our logo on their website among their corporate sponsors, and we love cheering these young dancers on.

Running with the South End Shuffle

South End is our neighborhood, so we were glad to be a Silver Sponsor of the South End Shuffle 5K & 1 Mile, which celebrated its 13th year on September 12, 2026. The race supports The Purple Promise Foundation to End Melanoma, along with the Dan Wade Memorial Scholarship and West Blvd Ministry. Seeing the neighborhood fill the streets on a Saturday morning is a reminder of why we love being here.

There is more, and we plan to keep adding to it every year.

Charlotte is home

When I started this series, I wanted you to see J. Major's the way I do: as a building with a hundred-year story, a business that four different owners kept alive through changing times, a team that loves the work, and a shop that began in 1984 and never left. Every part of that story happened here.

Charlotte is home for J. Major's, and it will stay home. Chains come and go. J. Major's has stood with Charlotte since 1984, and now Charlotte has stood up for us. We are not going anywhere.
