Wedding Dress Preservation in Charlotte, NC

Why Preserve Your Wedding Dress

The day after your wedding, your gown carries traces you cannot always see. Champagne, cake, makeup, and the natural oils from a long day of celebrating settle into the fabric. Left untreated, those invisible stains oxidize into yellow and brown spots that set permanently into the fibers. A standard garment bag or cardboard box only makes it worse, trapping moisture and acids that lead to mildew and fabric breakdown.

Professional preservation stops that process before it starts. Your wedding dress is cleaned of every visible and invisible stain, then sealed in an acid-free environment that protects it from light, humidity, and air. It is the difference between a gown that yellows in a closet and one your daughter could wear one day.

How Wedding Dress Preservation Works at J. Major's

1. Inspection
Every gown is examined by hand, with each visible and invisible stain identified and every delicate detail noted before any treatment begins.

2. Gentle Cleaning
Professional wedding dress cleaning is built into the process. Your gown is cleaned with a method matched to its specific fabrics, lifting away dirt, oils, and unseen stains while protecting the beadwork and lace.

3. Heirloom Preservation
Once clean, your gown is folded with acid-free tissue and sealed in an acid-free preservation box with a window panel, so you can see it for years without ever breaking the seal.

Your veil is preserved alongside your gown as part of the same package, and most gowns are returned to you in approximately 10 weeks.
