When people think about wedding venues in Charlotte, NC, the conversation often starts with ballrooms and banquet halls. But tucked into the Myers Park neighborhood at 1900 Selwyn Ave. is a setting that stops couples in their tracks the moment they arrive: Queens University of Charlotte. I had the privilege of experiencing it firsthand at their recent Wedding Showcase and vendor tour, and I left genuinely moved by what this campus has to offer.

A Historic Charlotte Wedding Venue Worth Knowing
Queens University has been a cornerstone of Charlotte for more than a century, and that history shows in every corner of the campus. The architecture is classically Southern, the grounds are lush and beautifully maintained, and the spaces feel both elegant and inviting in a way that photographs simply cannot capture. For couples searching for a Charlotte wedding venue that feels timeless rather than trendy, Queens deserves a serious look.
The venue offers several distinct ceremony and reception spaces, each with its own personality.
Belk Chapel is the crown jewel. Host to thousands of weddings since its opening in 1950, this non-denominational chapel welcomes couples of all religious backgrounds and seats up to 350 guests. The natural light inside is extraordinary, and the adjoining McInnes Rotunda on Radcliffe Avenue makes a beautiful pre-ceremony gathering space for the wedding party. Walking into Belk Chapel during the tour, it was easy to picture why so many Charlotte couples have chosen it for one of the most important moments of their lives.
Queens Hall and the McInnes Parlors bring more than 100 years of history to cocktail receptions and intimate celebrations. Seating up to 100 guests inside, with the Hall Brown Terrace extending capacity to 200 when the weather cooperates, these spaces offer a warmth and character that purpose-built event venues rarely achieve. The terrace view of the campus is genuinely stunning.
The Claudia Belk Room at the Levine Center for Wellness and Recreation is the modern complement to the historic spaces on campus. With flexible seating for up to 150 guests, warm lighting, and a contemporary design that lends itself equally well to elegant seated dinners and lively receptions with a dance floor, this room gives couples a fresh option without leaving the beauty of the Queens campus behind.
Young Dining Hall rounds out the offerings with capacity for up to 230 guests, available exclusively from May through August, making it an excellent option for summer wedding receptions.
Every rental package includes thoughtful details that matter on a wedding day: audio systems and microphones, on-site event management, wedding party dressing areas, a rehearsal the evening before, housekeeping, and campus parking. Catering is handled exclusively by Carved and Crafted, Queens' in-house partner, whose menu is worth exploring early in the planning process.
For couples who want to start imagining their day before committing, Queens University also welcomes engagement photo sessions on campus. Reach out to the team at weddings@queens.edu or call 704-971-2560 to start the conversation.

The People Who Made the Morning
A venue tour is only as good as the company you keep, and this one was exceptional.
Getting to meet Taylor Hernandez from Wed Society Charlotte was a genuine highlight. Wed Society is one of the most respected wedding media platforms serving the Charlotte market, and Taylor brought warmth and real enthusiasm to every conversation. It is always a pleasure connecting with people who lead with community.
I also had the joy of meeting Amy Mich from The White Rose Co., a boutique wedding planning company based in Charlotte and serving couples across the Carolinas and the East Coast. Amy brings over a decade of high-end hospitality experience to her work, and you feel that depth the moment you start talking with her. Her approach is calm, thoughtful, and rooted in a genuine passion for her clients. The care she puts into every celebration is evident, and I came away from our conversation with so much respect for what she has built.
