There are days when everything just clicks: the space, the fashion, and the storytelling behind the lens. Our recent styled shoot at The Grande Victorian in Monroe, NC was one of those days, thanks to the vision and artistry of Charlotte wedding photographer Robert Burns II. With a real life couple, Abhilasha and Prasann, traveling in from Raleigh, Robert orchestrated a session that felt both editorial and effortlessly intimate, exactly the balance we love to see when showcasing modern bridal style.

Why We Love Working with Robert
He leads with warmth and clarity. On set, Robert’s direction is calm, encouraging, and specific, so our bride can relax into the gown and be herself. You see it instantly in the images: unforced movement, clean lines, and the kind of connection that gives photos lasting power.
He thinks like an editor and a storyteller. Robert composes with intention. Framing architecture, light, and negative space to tell a fuller fashion story. His blog reflections on blending style, connection, and narrative track perfectly with what we felt on set.
He’s a genuine collaborator. From timing shots around the venue’s light to highlighting the details our team curated, Robert made sure every partner’s work had its moment, exactly what you want in a creative partner on a wedding day or a styled shoot.
The Look: Clean, Chic, Jenny Yoo
For Abhilasha, we styled a slinky, off the shoulder Jenny Yoo gown with a refined leg slit, modern glamour with timeless bridal lines. We finished the look with chic accessories from our boutique, keeping the palette clean so the silhouette and fabric could take center stage. The result: an editorial feel that still reads "bridal."
Paired with Prasann’s classic black suit, the fashion story found that sweet spot between sleek and romantic, a perfect canvas for Robert’s light-forward, detail-rich approach.

The Setting: Grandeur, Light, and Southern Charm
The Grande Victorian is a gem in the Charlotte area—ornate architecture, lush grounds, and the kind of light that flatters both skin tones and satin. It’s minutes from the city but feels like a world apart, making it an incredible backdrop for couples who love history and clean, modern imagery.
Florals by The Blossom Shop brought a fresh pop, sunny yellow blooms mixed with white florals that played beautifully against the venue’s classic lines. Hair and makeup by Kath Makeup Artistry leaned editorial: sculpted eyes, polished skin, and a finish that photographed flawlessly from every angle.
What Brides Can Take From This Shoot
Movement matters. Choose a gown with a silhouette and fabric that move, slit, drape, and neckline all influence how your photos feel, not just how they look.
Let the venue work for you. If you love luminous images, prioritize spaces with generous windows and reflective surfaces. The Grande Victorian’s light is a masterclass in why this matters.
Build a trusted team. When your photographer, stylist, florist, hair, and makeup are in sync, the day runs on rails and your gallery tells a cohesive story. This shoot is proof.
A Note of Gratitude to Robert
Robert, thank you for the generous collaboration and for the care you put into every frame. Your ability to guide a couple, honor a gown’s design, and translate a venue’s spirit into sophisticated, heirloom imagery is exactly why we recommend you to our brides. We see (and appreciate) the preparation, the thoughtful pacing, and the editorial eye you bring to set. It’s a joy to create with a photographer who elevates everyone’s craft.
