Charlotte's Longest-Running Bridal Shop
J. Major's Bridal Boutique has been part of Charlotte's wedding story since 1984, making us the longest-running independent bridal shop in the city.
We're located in the Steel Yard building in South End, where brides shop alongside our co-owner and in-house designer, Madison, who is on the floor every day the shop is open.
We carry gowns from Essense of Australia, Martina Liana, Stella York, Rosa Clará, La Premiere, Paloma Blanca, Mikaella, Locket by Watters, and Antonio Gual, with in-store samples ranging from $1,200 to $6,500 and available in sizes 6 through 28. Special orders extend up to size 32.
We hold a 4.9 star rating on Google from more than 870 reviews, a spot in The Knot's Hall of Fame, and recognition across Business Insider, USA Today, Glamour, Southern Weddings, and Style Me Pretty.

What Makes Us Different
Most brides in Charlotte shop with a rotating cast of visiting stylists or trunk show schedules. At J. Major's, our designer is here year-round, not just for a weekend event a few times a year. You can also browse our open racks yourself before or during your appointment, so you're never limited to only what's pulled for you ahead of time.
We also believe the fine print should be easy to find, not something you discover after you've booked. Here's what to expect.
FAQ
Is there a fee to book an appointment?
Weekday appointments are complimentary. Weekend appointments have a $20 booking fee.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule with less than 48 hours notice, or don't show up for your appointment, a $50 fee applies. This holds whether your original appointment was on a weekday or weekend.
Are there any hidden fees at checkout?
No. We don't charge a credit card processing fee, a financing fee, or a garment bag fee.
What are your payment terms?
You can choose to pay in full at the time of purchase, or put down 50% at purchase with the remaining 50% due when your gown arrives at the store, within five days of arrival.
How many guests can I bring?
You're welcome to bring up to 3 guests with you. For anyone else you'd love to include, we're happy to have them join virtually so they don't have to miss the moment.
When should I arrive for my appointment?
Please arrive right at your scheduled time. Arriving early doesn't move up your start time, and arriving late shortens the time available for your appointment.
Do you offer alterations in-house?
No, but we're happy to recommend experienced bridal seamstresses in the city.
What areas do you serve?
While we're located in Charlotte's South End, we regularly welcome brides from SouthPark, Myers Park, Dilworth, Ballantyne, Matthews, Mint Hill, Indian Trail, Pineville, Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Concord, and Fort Mill, SC.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
Before you arrive, you'll answer a few quick questions about your style, your wedding, and what you're dreaming of. Your stylist uses that to curate a selection before you walk in, so your appointment feels personal from the first moment.
Plan for about 80 minutes. It's private, unhurried, and just for you and your people. Your stylist will guide you through the fitting, help you read what you're feeling in each dress, and give you honest, caring guidance the whole way.
Most brides leave knowing. Some say yes that same day. Either way, there's no pressure, just the right dress, found the right way.
Rooted in Charlotte
We're a family-owned boutique, and this city is home in every sense of the word.
Ravi participated in Habitat for Humanity's CEO Build as a Charlotte business leader. Separately, we've supported Women Build, the Habitat Charlotte initiative that has empowered women in this city since 1991. In February 2026, we hosted a Jenny Yoo sample sale and directed 50% of the proceeds to Women Build. We're also proud sponsors of Charlotte Youth Ballet.
These aren't marketing programs. They're just where we show up. A national chain can open a location in South End. It can't be from here.
